aashpi Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas’ Executive Vice President / VP for Academics and Research, Dr. Esmenia R. Javier, together with Mrs. Lucila Portugal (Director for Human Resource Management and Development) and Mrs. Amelia De los Santos (Director for Materials Management and former HRMD Director) attended the 12th National Convention of the Asian Association of School HRMD Practitioners, Inc. (AASHPI) themed “Effective Talent Management – The Strategic Key in Shaping the Future held in Bacolod City.

A convergence of HR practitioners, educators and school administrators in sharing best practices through effective talent management that will prepare schools in shaping the future, the said AASHPI Convention also had LPU Batangas’ President, Mr. Peter P. Laurel, as one of the speakers.

Mr. Laurel talked about “Driving Schools to Organizational Excellence through Internal Critic Analysis, External Recognitions and Accreditation”. He emphasized that Organizational Excellence is obtained through Talent Management and Internal Critical Analysis, the use of Quality Assurance Tools with the ultimate goal of Student Satisfaction and Innovations. He also stressed that the right people are the most important asset of any organization.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gerry Plana from the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), delivered the Keynote Address “Effective Talent Management: The Strategic Key in Shaping the Future”. According to him, talent management makes sure that organizations have the right people in the right place at the right time.

With all these, the said national convention had indeed intensified AASHPI’s mission to enhance and advance the science, art, and best practices in human resource management and development in the Philippines and in Asia for greater institutional effectiveness and efficiency, and for a more enhanced personal quality of life.

As a follow through of the national convention, AASHPI members from the Region 4-A conceptualized a project while they were in Bacolod. Mrs. Portugal (AASHPI Region 4-A President and NOCEI Region 4-A Vice President), Mrs. Malou Gualberto (Univeristy of Batangas Assistant Vice President and NOCEI Region 4-A President) and Mrs. Edna Gutierrez (First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities HRMD Manager and Secretary of AASHPI Region 4-A and NOCEI Region 4-A) finalized the details of the “Labor Burning Issues” seminar which is slated in January 2012 at Lyceum of the Philippines University - Laguna. The seminar aims to educate and inform HR Practitioners, Registrars and Academic heads of the recent labor related practices affecting the academe. Atty. Ulan Sarmiento, an Educational Law Guru, will serve Keynote Speaker for the said event.
