Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas Celebrated the Community Awareness Week 2013 spearheaded by the Community Extension Office in cooperation with the Community Extension coordinators of the different colleges. This year’s theme was coined as Volunteerism: A Response in Facing Issues and Challenges towards a Dynamic Society.

Different activities were done to accomplish the objective of encouraging students and faculty members to join community extension activities through volunteerism such as:

  1. August 29, 2013 – the day for the briefing and picture taking for the Photo Contest
  2. September 3, 2013 – simultaneous Poster Making Contest and Seminar at SHL Freedom Hall and the Volunteers’ Training for student leaders
  3. September 7, 2013 – Tree Planting of 400 mangrove trees at the Riverside Campus of LPU Batangas

Photo Contest

1st Place – Gina Marie M. Dalisay – CITHM

2nd Place – John David B. Salonga – COE

3rd Place – King Fahad A. Norte Jr. – CBA

Poster Making Contest

1st Place –Raym Eunice Dianne M. Atienza– MLS

2nd Place – Alexon Faye S. Parilla – Pharma

3rd Place – Michelle Marvy H. Mia – CBA

A seminar was also held to nurture the seed of volunteerism in every Lycean. Distinguished speakers namely: Joseph Deligero-Deputy Director of the LPU HRMD office, Mrs. Lorena Candava-Head of Forest Management of PGENRO and Mr. Cris ”Kesz” Valdez a 13 year old Filipino  2012 International Children’s Peace Prize awardee inspired the audience to be better persons and encouraged them to act even in small ways to help the community in need.
