3 Gold, 5 Silver, 2 Bronze. The Philippines’ most awarded HRM and Tourism school did it again!
Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas’ (LPU-B) College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM) emerged Over-all National Champion in the Grand Culinary Challenge 2012 – a two-peat after being the Over-all National Champion also in the Grand Culinary Challenge 2011.
Gold medallists are: James Benson Alda for Grand Housekeeping Challenge; Erika Ante for Creative Filipino Merienda; and Chyfel Madera for Table Setting. Meanwhile, silver medallists are: Sarah Dell de Claro for Modern Asia Cuisine; Eugene Gil Achero for Bar Chow; Bryan Andal for Great Longganisa Challenge; Robert Christopher Calayan, Stephanie Chong and Given Angel Marcial for Dream Team Challenge; and Vincent Dimaano for Grand Buffet. Those who bagged the bronze medals are John Brian Javier for Grand Housekeeping Challenge and Clarence Mae Atienza for Creative Filipino Merienda.
These exemplary CITHM students are under the mentorship of their equally exemplary coaches – Mr. Leoncio Barlan Jr., Ms. Jeninah Christia Borbon, Mrs. Jovita Borbon, Ms. Joyce Cantos, Mr. Aristeo Cueto, Mr. Billy Festijo, Ms. Ma. Carlota Iponla, Mr. Ryan Mejia, Mrs. Ma. Fe Meñez, Ms. Maureen Mercado, Mr. Janzell Palbacal, Ms. Lhea Rasa and Mr. Joel Siman.
This Grand Culinary Challenge championship is one of the many laurels that LPU-B-CITHM has reaped this year like having the first HRM program in the Philippines that is awarded as Center of Excellence, having the first Tourism program in the Philippines that is awarded as Center of Development, and recommendation as an Associate Member with Pre-Accreditation Status of The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE).
Grand Culinary Challenge 2012 was held September 26-27 at the Villa Immaculada, Intramuros, Manila.
